President Barack Obama's former Chicago pastor, the Jeremiah Wright, is among the guests invited to attend a Selma event in March commemorating the 44th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday."
There's nothing wrong with celebrating Bloody Sunday. It was a tragic event in the civil rights struggle. But there is something wrong in inviting Jeremiah Wright to participate.
This country gives the folks in Selma the right and privilege to celebrate this event and they have the right to invite anyone they want. But having the right doesn't make it right. This man sold tapes of sermons preached in his church where Wright says things such as "God damn America" "..the KKK of America...". Is this race baiting really the way Selma wants to celebrate Bloody Sunday? It sounds to me as if they are longing for the "good old days" of prejudice and discrimination.
If I had the wherewithal I would go to Selma and mount a protest. Since I can't go someone needs to. This heathen doesn't need to be made welcome in Alabama.
